It's impossible to resist a smell of a new vehicle. Very little can compare to the pleasant aroma that the combination of leather and plastic can provide. Indeed, after awhile, many of us purchase air fresheners to make it smell like vanilla or melons. And that is alright, everyone finds diverse aromas appealing. But exactly what will you do if you start smelling things that you never smelled before. We intend to focus on how certain smells that abruptly appear could mean a possible problem for your car.

Certainly one of the first things that one thinks of is a sick sweet smell. This smell could mean that there is a leak in your coolant system. Even though this might be a small leak, it is something you will want to get fixed right away before it causes other troubles. Additionally you can come across an smell that is very strong. This intense smell signifies the heater core is leaking. You will need to have this problem investigated and fixed because the fumes are dangerous if inhaled for too long.

You may even have the experience of the odor coming from the tailpipe inside your car. This is not normal most likely suggests that you have a gap somewhere in your exhaust system. If the odor is really bad, it could either mean the doors may not be sealed adequately or that you have holes in your floor as a result of rust. Smelling the exhaust just isn't good for your wellbeing at all so you will need to have this checked and fixed without delay.

Something that happened to me some time ago is that I went to the gas station and filled up and as soon as I left the station I still smelled gas. It didn't bother me at first, but the next day I could still smell gas. It turned out that I had developed a leak on the top section of my fuel tank. This is possibly the single most dangerous smells because with the leaking gas even a small spark could ignite it. Not a single thing is more horrifying in comparison to your fuel tank catching on fire. Which means that if you ever notice fuel, get your car to a repair shop immediately.

Finally, you may come across a rotten egg odor. If this is the case, you most likely have an situation where the catalytic converter is clogged. This too implies that the exhaust is not being expelled properly which could result in some serious damage to your car. So when you have that rotten egg smell, get your car in and make sure it's checked out.

You may end up smelling some other peculiar odors. Bear in mind this is your car so if you smell something out of the ordinary there is probably a problem and you should get it to the shop.
